The denitrification dilution fan is the core equipment of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) denitrification system. Its main functions are as follows:

1. Safely dilute ammonia
Mix ammonia (NH₃) with air to ensure that the ammonia concentration in the mixed gas is ≤5%, which is far below the lower explosion limit (15%) to avoid explosion risks.
A large amount of air is blown in through a high-pressure centrifugal fan to achieve uniform mixing and prevent local ammonia concentration from exceeding the standard.

2. Ensure denitrification reaction efficiency
The diluted ammonia is evenly sprayed into the flue through the ammonia injection grid, fully contacting with the NOx in the flue gas and improving the efficiency of the catalytic reduction reaction.

3. Prevent the ammonia spray grid from crystallizing or clogging due to high concentrations of ammonia.

‌System Configuration and Operation Requirements‌

Equipment selection:

Each unit shall be equipped with at least two high-pressure centrifugal dilution fans (one in operation and one in standby or two in operation and one in standby), with a 10% margin reserved for air volume and a 20% margin reserved for air pressure.

Run Control:

Start the boiler before ignition and keep it running throughout the whole process (including the period when denitrification is not carried out and ammonia is not sprayed) to prevent dust accumulation and blockage in the air duct.

The system is equipped with a Venturi tube flow measurement device to monitor the ammonia mixing ratio in real time.

Troubleshooting cases:

Duct vibration, impeller wear, flange dust leakage, etc., can be alleviated by modifying the inlet regulating valve and adding a metal compensator.

Energy saving optimization:

Some power plants try to use high-temperature flue gas from boiler blowers or primary fans as a dilution air source to reduce power consumption.

While ensuring safety, the dilution fan effectively supports the stable operation of the denitrification system and ensures compliance with environmental standards.
