The secondary fan is the core equipment for combustion control in the boiler system. Its main functions are as follows:

1. Supplementing combustion oxygen

Secondary air accounts for about 60% of the total air volume and is injected into the furnace through stratification or swirl to provide sufficient oxygen for complete combustion of the fuel and reduce unburned carbon loss.

In biomass boilers, secondary air accounts for 20% to 40%. The air volume is dynamically adjusted through multi-stage injection to improve combustion efficiency.

2. Optimizing the combustion process

Enhance gas-solid contact through turbulent mixing and shorten combustion time (such as the control of flame shape by swirl direction in counter-fired boilers).

Adjust the furnace temperature distribution to avoid local overheating or slagging (such as secondary air control of bed temperature in circulating fluidized bed boilers).

3. Environmental protection and efficiency improvement

Reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions: Through staged combustion and optimized oxygen distribution, NOx generation can be reduced by 15% to 30%.

Prevent ash accumulation: High-speed secondary air forms a storm powder structure to reduce ash adhesion to the furnace wall.

Typical application scenarios

Pulverized coal boiler: Secondary air is injected into the upper part of the furnace through the burner in layers, creating turbulence and promoting combustion.

Biomass boiler: Multi-stage secondary air injection combined with waste heat utilization increases thermal efficiency by approximately 5%.

Precautions

The secondary air input needs to be adjusted gradually according to the load to avoid drastic fluctuations in furnace temperature.

During design, the air volume needs to be dynamically matched based on fuel characteristics (such as biomass moisture).
